Gift Tip #120: CLT Buzz Blend Coffee

Want to feel good about your coffee habit..well I have just the thing!

Let's combine your love of coffee with helping a great cause with this new and pretty cool partnership between CLTBuzz, Magnolia Coffee Company and my beloved The Young Affiliates of the Mint Museum. The partnership is centered around coffee...but not just any coffee...it's Magnolia's newly roasted artisan coffee called CLT Buzz and with every bag sold one dollar goes to support the Mint Museum "Cultural Campus" program. The coffee is a medium roast blend with hints of chocolate, honey and light citrus and bags can be purchased at select speciality retailers including Reid's Fine Foods, Whole Foods, Julia's Cafe and Mugs Coffee. You can also purchase online at www.MagnoliaCoffeeCo.com. The Mint Museum is the first to benefit from this program I think it's a great way to combine something you already do (cup of joe, anyone?) with a great cause. So pick up a bag today (for you or any coffee lover) and support children, arts and the community!

Bzzzz: Here's a bit about the partners:

Gift Tip #114: EPIC Treadmill

Don’t dread the tread!
The New Year brings about new goals and more often than not, exercising is top of the list. Epic treadmills includes cutting edge features to keep (or get) you on track. Some features include iFit, an interactive Wi-Fi enabled platform that allows you to choose your run route via Google maps and an Android browser that allows you to check email (or YouTube) as you run to your heart’s content. In addition to the reward of getting fit with Epic products, the company offers another incentive--you can receive Epic Rewards every time you step on the treadmill. Basically the more you run, the more rewards (i.e. trainer tips, free equipment tune-ups) you receive. Nice motivation to put one foot in front of the other, wouldn’t you say? picture source: Dick's Sporting Goods

Gift Tip #107: Combat RC Copter

The only difference between this remote helicopter and a real aircraft is the size. This helicopter is ready for battle with real-flight maneuvers, shooting sounds and infrared shots to get the bad guys. In addition, you can battle anyone who also has one of these combat RC Copters but be careful, after three "hits" from your counterpart, your copter will make a landing and your remote will be deactivated--game over! Included with your purchase is a remote (that doubles as the charger) and a spare-parts repair kit.

Gift Tip #106: Grill Alert Talking Remote Thermometer

Do you know someone who thinks they are a grill master but every time they fire up the grill, the meat is more charred than delicious? Let's help that guy (or gal...it is 2012!) with a gourmet gadget that that takes the guess work out of BBQ'ing--the grill alert talking remote thermometer from Brookstone. To use, you simply put the stainless steel probes in the center of the meat, choose how you would like the meat cooked and it will alert you with a voice prompt when the meat is done. The "chef of the yard" is no longer tied down to the grill and can now mix and mingle with the guests.

Gift Tip 104: Frisbees

During these summer days, why not hit the park and throw a frisbee with a friend? This old school activity is as much for your buds, as it is for your favorite furry friends. Dogs enjoy catching these discs, as much as anyone. Here are a few examples:
Innova Disc Golf DX 3-Disc Set, Dick's Sporting Goods

Freestyle Frisbee Sport Disc, Frisbeedisc.com
Frisbee Malibu, wham-o.com
Take these to your next cookout or family reunion..it will compliment the other outdoor games and hot dogs well!

Fun facts
  • The name Frisbee pays homage to the Frisbee Baking Company, whose pie tins were tossed around by college students in the 1920’s.
  • Toy company Wam-O first manufactured the Frisbee flying disc in 1957.
  • In 2002 in California, Christian Sandstrom, threw a disc about 820 feet—or a little longer than two football fields—to set the record for the world’s longest throw.
Bzzzz: According to national Ultimate Frisbee competitor Gregg Shapiro, “throwing a disc is a lot like hitting a backhand Ping-Pong ball. But at the end, flick your wrist to add some spin.”
