Party Announcement: Flip Your Gift Party: Sat. Jan 5th

I'm throwing a party that is perfect for those Christmas gifts...see the details below:)

Flip Your Gift is a FREE “swap” party that focuses solely on gifts. It allows you to “re-gift” without the negative connotation.

Perhaps you received a duplicate gift this holiday season or received a gift that is amazing but doesn’t match your style or decor.

Flip Your Gift allows you to exchange a similarly priced gift for one that better suits your needs, wants, style and/or decor. No gag gifts allowed! This is a free, fun festive event in which you exchange gifts, leaving with a special present that you cannot wait to take home to use, wear and/or admire.

Attendees bring a gift to exchange for a similarly priced gift that best suits their needs and/or wants.

This event is proudly sponsored by The Boulevard at South End.

Complimentary small bites, wine and desserts by Hey Sugar Shop

Date: Saturday, January 5, 2013
Time: 11am-2pm

RSVP via Facebook or by leaving a comment/your name at the end of this post.

Holiday Party Etiquette

We are on the cusp of many holiday parties so I thought I would share a few do's and don'ts so you can enjoy a season of spirited soirees...

DON'T forget to RSVP. This will help the hostess keep track of who's attending, as well as ensure there is enough food, drinks and parting gifts for everyone.

DO Bring a hostess gift. While a gracious hostess should not expect a gift, it is a wonderful gesture to someone who has invited you to their soiree. I suggest bringing something that can be easily put aside and doesn't require immediate attention.

DO Ask if you can help with anything. Some hosts will hire staff to take care of the party needs but if not be sure to see if you are able to assist. Perhaps, prepping food, making drinks or taking a few photos.

DON'T Arrive when the party is ending. We can all be fashionably late to events at times (raises hand) but showing up when people are putting on coats leaves such a bad impression....one that may get you removed from next year's guest list.

DO: Thank the hostess for the invitation and share what a great time you had at the event. A verbal thanks at the end of the night (or a couple days following the event) is great but a hand written note is even better.

Experience: Charlotte Mag BOB Awards Party

Each year, Charlotte Magazine puts together the "best of the best" list that showcases...well...the best...the city has to offer in the areas of: dining, arts & culture, shopping, body & soul, nightlife and recreation. The list is put together by the writers and editors of the magazine which is apropos since they live and breathe all things Charlotte. To put the cherry on top, Charlotte Magazine has a party where some of the BOB winners are featured...and the general public can eat and drink a bit of what the experts have been raving about in the magazine. The party takes place on Thursday, May 17th at 6:30pm. In addition, to good eats and drinks, there will be music, prizes and an after party. This year's party will take place in the NC Music Factory Courtyard (the party will move indoors if it rains) and for the first time there will be an official after party at Butter NC.

After perusing the Charlotte Magazine issue, I noticed that some of my favorites were also the faves of Charlotte Magazine. I love being in good company:) Here are a few:
Upscale Patio Dining: The Dresslers (Midtown) and Vivace
Fish Market: Clean Catch
Lingerie: I.C. London
Sky High Workout: Flex and Fit

There's also a few I can't wait to try to see if it's true like:
Place for Cheap Drinks: Small Bar
Running Trail: 5K Course at McAlpine Creek Park
All Day Spot: Common Market

Bzzz: Be sure to pick up a copy of Charlotte Magazine (May issue) because not only does it list the current winners (some with pics), there is also an index and Hall of Fame of past winners. Also, be sure to check out the "Bracket Smackdown" and the 'Splurge or Steal" sections, both are new elements to the awards issue.
