Hostess Gifts for the Holiday Season

Yesterday I shared a few do's and don'ts for holiday parties and one of the items I suggested was to bring a hostess gift. As previously mentioned, a hostess should not expect a gift but it is a  wonderful gesture to someone who has invited you to their home. I suggest bringing something that can be easily put aside and doesn't require immediate attention. Here are a few options:

Artisan Chocolates--These are from Think Chocolate

Candles--This one is from Voluspa

Table Topics--These act as a great ice breakers and conversation starters for many parties

Infused Olive Oil--Pour Olive in Charlotte has a great variety of oils

Coasters--These handmade colorful coasters are from Tapas Trays

HoneeBee Quote

I tend to buy birthday presents on net-a-porter.com. I'll get my girlfriends a great clutch or pair of shoes--something whimsical you wouldn't buy yourself.

Bzzzz: Pick up a SouthPark Magazine today!

Be sure to pick up the October issue of SouthPark Magazine (blvd. section) where I highlight the people, places and things in and around Charlotte. This month I interviewed beautiful mom and entrepreneur Avi Woolman who owns Activewear USA and shared items that range from candy buffets to fitness grear. It all begins on page 15 and copies can be picked up here. Many of these items featured would make great gifts!

SouthPark Magazine is a speciality publication under the Charlotte Observer family. It is Charlotte's premier luxury lifestyle magazine and highlights various topics including fashion, travel, philanthropy and more.

Gift Tip #78: KOBO candles

I tell ya--you give me a nicely packaged candle and I am a happy girl! KOBO candles are soy-based and come in various scents including leather mahogany (so unique!), Vetiver and Shaved Vanilla (yum!) and Green Pearl Jasmine (intriguing!) and many more. They are beautifully packaged, coming in a small canister wrapped in a beautiful design. Oh...and you know how you always have to look for a match to light your candle? No need to worry about it with the 80 hour burning KOBO candles as they come with their very own matchbook. What a nice extra step?

This is one of those gifts you should keep in your gift closet/pantry as it would make a great hostess, birthday, or "just because I love you" gift.

Git Tip #69: Voluspa Candles

Chances are you have seen these beauties...they are everywhere from Francesca's Collections to Saks Fifth Avenue. I like these candles not only because of their scents (who can go wrong with a candle named crisp champagne?) but also their beautiful packaging. Every time I see a Voluspa candle, it's too pretty to pass by...I have to stop, check out the artwork and take a smell. They are just classy candles and their scents follows suit. Gift Tip #49: Verve candles

Verve candles are one of the best candles that I have come across in quite a while and what makes them even better is that they are produced locally. These 100% soy candles are created by Pam Mahaffey and she sells them at Atherton Market. The candles come in over eight scents including ginger sucre which has hints of ginger and clove with an understated vanilla bean and orange medley which boasts intoxicating fruity blend of mimosa leaves and orange zest. Pam will even decorate the containers and if you save the empty containers, bring them back to the market, she will give you a discount on your next purchase!
