Gift Tip #84: Acts of Faith

Acts of Faith is a one of those books you can have on your shelf for a lifetime and every time you open it up, you learn something new. This book is filled with thoughtful and inspirational quotes and affirmations. On each page you will gain perspective by reading the paragraph that is directly aligned with the aforementioned quote/affirmation. The book is broken up into sections including Money and Abundance, Self, World and more. Quotes come from Chinese proverbs, songs, spiritual leaders and others that have at one point or another said something that resonated with someone else. The book's author, Iyanla Vanzant said the goal of Acts of Faith is to "assist the children of the earth in the redevelopment of their minds, bodies and spirits".

Here is just one page from the 365 page book (the book begins January 1st and goes to December 31st to give you inspiration every day of the year)....

Your crown has been bought and paid for. All you must do is put it on your head--James Baldwin

There is nothing you need that you do not already have. There is nothing you need to know that you do not already know. There is nothing you want that does not already exist. There is nothing that exists that is too good for you. There is nothing anyone has that you cannot have. There is nothing more powerful, more intelligent, more sacred than you. You are the stuff life is made of. You are the essence of life. You have been chosen at this time, in this place to be among the living. You come from a long line of successful living beings. You are one of the king's kids. Born into the world to inherit the kingdom. You are equipped to handle anything. You live by grace, built by love. You are the cause and the reason of everything you see. You are the one with the Source. You are creative. You are alive. What else could possibly matter?

Today I claim my Divine inheritance.

This would be a perfect gift for a high school or college graduate, a lover of quotes or bookworm. In addition, this would be a great item to add to your gift closet.

Gift Tip #83: Decoded

A few years ago there were rumors of Jay-Z doing a book...an autobiography and I thought that would be too good to be true. I heard nothing more for some time and was disappointed...now let's fast forward to the end of last year. What?! A book by Jay-Z? I had been "burned" before so I did not want to get too excited but this time it was true! Jay-Z's book dropped in October 2010, not an autobiography but if possible--even better. Why? Because he was breaking down the lyrics in some of his top charting (and fan favorite) hits. To make things even better, he shares personal moments like meeting Bono for the first time, his relationship with Memphis Bleek (who simply but is his homeboy and fellow rapper) and his one on one meeting with President Barack Obama. The book includes photos of NYC, the rapper's influences and more.
You would think this would be a book only for Jay-Z fans but I beg to differ. It is more philosophical that some Psych 101 classes and I think that's why it caught the eye of Oprah and many others--it was one of the Top 5 on the New York Best Sellers list! This would be a great gift for any book lover, hip hop aficionado or anyone who wants insight into Jay's world/mind. HOVA! HOVA!

HoneeBee Gifts Announcement!!

Sheckys, a girlfriend and lifestyle company based in NYC conducted a best blogger contest and I was one of the WINNERS! To see the official announcement go here.
I am so excited and have already begun working on my first article. My first post will come out next month and I will share creative gift ideas as I do on my blog--but it will be new content so be sure to check out my posts and support me on that site too!
If you are a follower of my blog, you may have seen two blog posts that included Sheckys. One was on their Girls Night Out events, which came to Charlotte for the first time in June. The second was sharing the contents of my coveted Sheckys goody bag following the Girls Night Event. Since then I have followed them on Twitter. I have always been intrigued by the company. I think they are great and I felt this way before the blogging opportunity came about...but I must admit the blogging opportunity is icing on the cake!

In case you missed my previous blog posts on Sheckys, here are the links:

Gift Tip #79: Hand Candies

No time to make it to the nail salon? Try an at-home manicure scrub with Hand Candies. Packaged like hard candies, the card that comes with the product warns you not to eat them but crumble the sea salts over your hands and arms to exfoliate, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. The "candies" come in various flavors like flirtini, dream pop, grapefruit cocktail, lavender and more. They leave your hands feeling soft and moisturized and are a perfect gift for a truly girlie girl, woman on the go or someone that likes to pamper at home.

The Gift of the Weekend

What a busy week! It seriously flew by--and this was one of those weeks that I wished was a bit slower. Funny how that works, huh? Anyway, I have lots to do this weekend including family time, prep for travel and showing HoneeBee some love. What do you have going on this weekend. My ideal weekend would include:

Breakfast in bed
Reading a magazine at a local coffee shop which will inevitably lead to people watching

A stroll in a garden, hand holding with someone special

Heading back home to peruse a book or two in my personal library (if only my place and library looked like this....sigh)

Gift Tip #78: KOBO candles

I tell ya--you give me a nicely packaged candle and I am a happy girl! KOBO candles are soy-based and come in various scents including leather mahogany (so unique!), Vetiver and Shaved Vanilla (yum!) and Green Pearl Jasmine (intriguing!) and many more. They are beautifully packaged, coming in a small canister wrapped in a beautiful design. Oh...and you know how you always have to look for a match to light your candle? No need to worry about it with the 80 hour burning KOBO candles as they come with their very own matchbook. What a nice extra step?

This is one of those gifts you should keep in your gift closet/pantry as it would make a great hostess, birthday, or "just because I love you" gift.
